The icon of Archangel Michael is made using the technique of relief carving on alder wood with gilding in leaf gold (mirror foil). Its dimensions are 85 cm in height, 60 cm in width, and 3.5 cm in thickness, making the icon a striking accent both in the temple and in a spacious home prayer corner. The volumetric relief combined with the shine of gold comes alive with every change in lighting.

About the Image

Archangel Michael is revered in Christian tradition as the Archistrategos, the leader of the heavenly host and protector of the faithful. In Ukraine, he is especially honored as the patron of Kyiv and the defender of warriors, with his feast day falling in November. The carved icon with gilding is a worthy image for a temple, chapel, or home prayer space, as well as a meaningful gift for someone named Michael or for a community whose temple is dedicated to the Archangel.

Manufacturing Traditions

The icon is handcrafted by artisans of the creative workshop of sacred products PIVTORAK & COMPANY in Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The Kosiv region has a long-standing reputation as a land of carvers, and this tradition is felt in the meticulous processing of every line of the image. After completing the carving, the artisans cover the details with thin sheets of leaf gold, giving the relief depth and light worthy of the image of the Archangel.
