“The throne that shines with gold reminds us of the Heavenly Throne”
The gilded throne with twisted columns is completely covered in gold, from the profiled base to the edge of the tabletop. Spiral columns rise at the corners, and the walls are filled with openwork frames featuring narrative reliefs, among which is the scene of the Last Supper. The base of the product is hand-carved from alder wood, measuring 120 x 120 x 150 cm.

About the Product
The solid gilding makes the throne the main light accent of the altar: in the flickering of the lamps, the relief comes to life, and the small details of the ornament cast soft shadows. The openwork frames of intertwined curls frame the central panels, allowing the Gospel scenes to be clearly visible from any side. A frieze with a plant motif runs under the tabletop, and the columns stand on square bases with rosettes. The donation box in the photo is a separate item and is not included in the price of the throne.

Material Advantages
- Alder is smooth and fine-grained, so the texture of the wood does not show through, and the gold lays smoothly.
- Lightweight alder wood makes delivery and installation of the throne in the altar easier.
- Gilding protects the carved surface and preserves the ceremonial appearance of the product for many years.
- Stability of dried alder reduces the risk of cracks that could damage the gold coating.
Traditions of Gilded Carving
The throne is made by the masters of the Creative Workshop of Sacred Products PIVTORAK & COMPANY in Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The gilding of carved wood in Ukrainian temples flourished during the Baroque period when iconostases and thrones began to be covered with gold as a symbol of Divine light. The masters first carve each detail and then cover the entire relief with gold, preserving the clarity of the smallest elements.
Care
- Dust only with a dry brush with soft bristles.
- Do not use water, alcohol, polishing pastes, or treated wipes.
- Keep the throne away from heat sources and damp walls.
- Ensure that wax and oil from lamps do not come into contact with the gilding.
- Do not touch up damaged gilding yourself; consult the masters.
