HUTSUL CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
“The clothing of the Hutsul is not fabric, it is a song woven into wool, and a prayer embroidered with a red thread on black cloth.”
Imagine the colors of the meadow in the height of summer — the emerald green of the grass, the crimson bloom of the fire, the black velvet of the evening sky over the Cheremosh. It is with such colors that Hutsul clothing speaks to us — bright, proud, and forged by generations of masters from Kosiv. Each kiptar, each plakhte, each beaded gerdan is a small story of the family, a woven talisman that has protected the mountain dweller from the cold winds of the Carpathians and the evil eye for centuries.
In the section “Hutsul Clothing and Accessories,” we have gathered items created by the hands of masters from Kosiv and surrounding Hutsul villages — made from natural wool, fine leather, linen, and hemp fabric. These are not costumes for a museum, but living, warm, and practical clothing that was worn in the mountains every day and cherished for holidays.

Materials and Handwork
Our Hutsul clothing is sewn and woven from the same materials that our ancestors used: home-woven wool, tanned sheep leather, linen, and hemp fabric. Such materials breathe, keep warm in the frost, and are not afraid of mountain moisture. Each embroidery, each bead interweaving is the work of the living hands of the masters from Kosiv, not a machine loom.
The Language of Ornament
In Hutsul attire, there are no random patterns. The red color symbolizes life and fire, black — the earth and ancestors, green — the mountains and abundance, yellow — the sun. Diamonds, zigzags, and “ram's horns” on kiptars and plakhty are ancient protective signs that masters pass down from generation to generation.
Care for the Products
Products made from natural wool and leather require careful handling: dry cleaning, airing, and storage away from moisture and direct sunlight. Embroidered elements should not be washed in a machine — only delicate hand washing or dry cleaning.
The colors in the photo may slightly differ from the actual ones due to screen features and lighting during shooting.
Wear Hutsul attire — and the mountains will echo in your heart.
