“The cross in the center of each door reminds us whose Sacrifice is being prepared on this altar”
The proscomidia table, or altar table, stands in the altar, where the priest performs the proscomidia: the preparation of bread and wine for the Divine Liturgy. This proscomidia table is handmade from alder, the body is painted white, and the carvings are adorned with gold leaf from mirror gold foil. The facade consists of two ornate doors with crosses in the central medallions, framed by gilded twisted columns on the sides. The wide countertop of 1520 mm makes the altar table spacious even for archbishop and cathedral services.
The facade of the proscomidia table consists of two ornate doors. In the center of each is a gilded medallion with a cross, surrounded by an acanthus ornament, and the space between the curls is filled with white carved grilles. The doors conceal the internal space of the body. On the edges of the facade stand twisted columns, completely covered in gold and entwined with grape clusters.
Under the countertop stretches a wide gilded frieze of grapevines, and the profiled base is decorated with a golden ornamental band. The dimensions of the product are 1520 x 1020 x 1050 mm: the width and depth allow for the free placement of disks, chalices, prosphora, and notes, while the height of 1050 mm is designed for comfortable standing service.

The proscomidia table is made by the masters of the creative workshop of sacred products PIVTORAK & COMPANY in the city of Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Altar furnishings have always been the most responsible work for the Kosiv carvers, as they serve during the performance of the Sacraments. The workshop continues this tradition: each door, column, and grape cluster is carved by hand, and the gilding is applied layer by layer.
