The chest decoration “Zgarda 011” is one of the oldest Hutsul chest ornaments, made of brass using casting and engraving techniques. The composition combines rhythmic rows of solar signs that symbolize a connection to ancient tradition.

About the product

Zgardas are among the oldest Hutsul chest ornaments. In compositional terms, it is a complex system that combines one or several rhythmic-plastic rows of various solar signs, strung on “chains,” straps, etc., placed at a distance of “crossbars” from each other and connected by “chepragas.” The compositional center often features a larger equilateral cross that unites all others, sometimes smaller crosses.
