The “Rainbow Bench” rug-cover is a woolen product from the “Hutsul Lizhnyk” workshop, handwoven to transform an ordinary bench, armchair, or sofa into a bright, lively accent in the interior. The rich, multicolored striped composition is a rare case where practicality and decorativeness are combined in one product.

Each colorful stripe in the pattern tells a little story: Hutsul artisans have traditionally dyed wool with natural dyes from plants and bark, so no color ever repeated perfectly. Today, this tradition continues at the “Hutsul Lizhnyk” workshop — combining the natural palette with modern dyeing durability, so the colors delight for years rather than fading in one season.

At the core is the wool from sheep grazing in the Carpathian meadows. It is washed, dried, and carded with a special comb into a fluffy ball, after which it is twisted into threads and woven on a traditional loom. The finished product undergoes felting in a “valili” — a wooden tub where a stream of water falls under pressure: after a few hours of rotation, the product becomes tight and fluffy. Finally, the rug is dried and brushed to fluff the wool and “revive” the color.
Regular airing outdoors and vacuuming on low power will help maintain the brightness of the colors. In case of soiling — dry cleaning or careful hand washing in cool water with a gentle wool detergent, without wringing.
