“The chalice on the altar reminds us why the Church gathers”

At the center of the main panel of this set is a carved Eucharistic Chalice, surrounded by delicate scrolls and a diamond lattice. Thus, the altar directly indicates its purpose: the Sacrament of Communion is performed on it. The set includes an altar measuring 160 x 160 x 105 cm and a kiot measuring 75 x 75 x 130 cm, both hand-carved from oak and left in a natural light shade.

About the Product

The altar stands on a wide profiled base, and its corners form four twisted columns with plant wrapping, protruding from the walls. Each side features a delicate panel: one has the Chalice carved, while the others have narrative reliefs, and behind the carving, a dark backing enhances the contrast. The kiot placed on the altar has arched doors with relief images, twisted columns on either side, and five domes with crosses. The light tone of the oak makes the carving readable even in a poorly lit altar.

Where It Fits and Where It Doesn’t

✓ Suitable

  • For churches that want to emphasize the Eucharistic significance of the altar
  • Bright interiors with an iconostasis or pews made of light wood
  • Spacious altars where the altar measuring 160 x 160 cm will not obstruct the movement of the clergy
  • Parishes looking for a ready-made coordinated set instead of individual items

✗ Not the Best Choice

  • For churches with dark, almost black wooden decor
  • Altars where the height of the altar needs to be greater than 105 cm
  • For those who need a separate kiot without the altar

Advantages of the Material

  • Light oak shows the light and shadow of the relief well, so the small details of the Chalice and ornament are visible from a distance.
  • Dense fibers of oak wood maintain sharp edges of the carving without chips or broken tips.
  • Load resistance is important for the tabletop, on which the kiot, Gospel, and altar cross are constantly placed.
  • Noble aging: over the years, oak gradually turns golden and acquires a deeper tone.

Traditions of Eucharistic Symbolism

The set is made by the masters of the creative workshop of sacred products PIVTORAK & COMPANY in Kosiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The image of the Chalice has adorned altars and royal gates since ancient times, reminding us of the Last Supper and the Communion performed at the altar. The masters placed this symbol on the main panel, and built the rest of the composition around it so that the attention of the worshipper would focus on the essence of the Sacrament.

Care

  • Do not place the set near the entrance doors of the church, where drafts and temperature fluctuations occur in winter.
  • Dust the delicate panels and domes of the kiot with a soft brush.
  • Remove wax stains only after they have completely hardened, using a plastic spatula.
  • Do not use products containing silicone and ammonia.
  • If the wood has dried out and lightened, it can be refreshed with oak oil.
