Ornament and Symbolism
The composition is built on the rhythm of vertical stripes, between which stylized diamonds “bloom.” In Hutsul tradition, these diamonds are called roses — an ancient solar sign, symbolizing family prosperity, fertility, and a protective charm for the home. Nine diamonds in three rows form a balanced grid that is pleasantly “read” from any point in the room.
On the side — small “hooked” jagged motifs resembling stylized fir trees or lightning. This is also a classic Kosiv motif that artisans weave along the stripes to “animate” the surface of the carpet with rhythm and movement.
Palette — Like a Path Through the Mountains in Autumn
Instead of bright contrasts — calm earthy shades: warm ochre, honey mustard, chocolate bark, powdery sand. This range warms the room, does not “pull” attention to itself, and easily combines with wood, linen, ceramics, and woven decor.
