It is said that in Kosiv even autumn is more colorful than summer in other cities. In this carpet — the entire Kosiv palette at once: from emerald spruce to saffron sun over the rooftops.
The Hutsul carpet “Kosiv Colors” is the most festive product from theHutsul Carpet Workshopfrom the weaving cooperative in Kosiv. Six rich colors have woven into vertical “trees of life” — and a whole weaving bouquet has emerged, in which Kosiv itself is recognizable: colorful, festive, full of light.
🌈 Colorful. Six main colors in the palette: emerald, turquoise, saffron, terracotta, chocolate, cream.
🌳 Symbolic. The classic ornament “tree of life” — an ancient sign of family well-being.
🎨 Kosiv. Author's hand weaving in Kosiv — the heart of Hutsul art.
Kosiv is a small mountain town in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, but it has been considered the center of folk art of Hutsulshchyna for over two hundred years. Here, Kosiv painted ceramics originated, included by UNESCO in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The famous Kosiv school of Easter egg painting operates here. And it is here that the same Hutsul carpets have been woven for centuries, which are bought for presidential gifts and the Museum of Ukrainian Diaspora in Kyiv.
“Kosiv Colors” is a tribute to this tradition. Each color in the carpet is part of the living Kosiv palette: the emerald of the spruces around the city, the turquoise of the sky over the Carpathians, the saffron of ceramics in the Kobrynski museum, the terracotta of chimneys, the chocolate of wooden houses, the cream of the linen tablecloths at the Kosiv market stalls.
The vertical motifs on the carpet are called the tree of life or spruce by the Hutsuls. This is one of the oldest symbols of Ukrainian culture, which is found even in Trypillia pottery. The tree of life symbolizes:
Between the main “trees,” the master wove narrow ribbons with diamond “roses” and jagged patterns — protective signs that “frame” the magical composition.
🟢 Emerald — like the spruce forests around Kosiv.
🔵 Turquoise — like the sky over Chornohora on a clear day.
🟡 Saffron — like Kosiv painted ceramics.
🟠 Terracotta — like the tiles on Hutsul houses.
🟤 Chocolate — like the wooden beams of century-old huts.
⚪ Cream — like the hand-woven linen of Hutsul tablecloths.
This carpet is a standalone accent. It does not like to compete with other patterned items, so it is worth building a calm background around it.

Yes, this is one of the classic options for use. Hutsuls traditionally gave the newlyweds a woven carpet with a “tree of life” — a symbol of family prosperity, new generations, and a strong marriage. “Kosiv Colors” with its festive palette is an especially successful wedding gift.
“Kosiv Colors” is built on a classic Hutsul color formula, where each color is “balanced” by another. It works best with natural wood (oak, pine, ash), linen, and ceramics. If you have a modern interior with white or gray walls — the carpet will easily become the only accent in the room.
Each product is woven by hand, so the size, saturation of individual threads, and the fine rhythm of the pattern may differ slightly from the sample. This is not a defect — it is the master’s “signature.” Before shipping, we make a detailed video review of your carpet so you can see the actual product before receiving it.
The workshop uses durable dyes with pre-fixing. The safest option is dry cleaning. If washing by hand: only cold water (up to 30 °C), a delicate wool detergent, without soaking. The first time it is better to wash separately. Do not wring — let the water drain naturally. Dry horizontally, spread out, away from batteries and direct sunlight.
Yes, “Kosiv Colors” is an ideal candidate for a wall panel. The carpet is dense enough to hold its shape. The simplest way to secure it is to screw a wooden rail to the wall and thread it through the top tassels. Or use a special strip with Velcro — it is sewn to the back of the carpet.
For daily care — vacuum on medium power without a brush attachment. Once a season, air it out in fresh air (not in direct sunlight). If it gets dirty — dry cleaning or hand washing in cool water (up to 30 °C) with a delicate wool detergent. Do not wring — let the water drain naturally. Dry horizontally, spread out, away from heating batteries.
We work directly with family weaving workshops in Kosiv — without intermediaries, resellers, and store markups. Each carpet is woven by hand, so no two are exactly alike. We pack in film and cardboard, and ship via “Nova Poshta” throughout Ukraine. Payment is available on the website or to the FOP account.
“Kosiv Colors” is a carpet-celebration. Unroll it in the living room — and the room will immediately come alive, like the Kosiv market on a Sunday morning. It is both a gift and a family relic, a piece of Hutsul culture that will live in your home.
