The Hutsul hand-woven rug “Ornaments of the Carpathians” is a product of the Hutsul Carpet Workshop, woven using traditional home weaving technology. The classic geometric ornament, tested by generations, makes the rug a universal solution for any corner of the home — from the hallway to the kitchen.

Hand-woven textiles — a living tradition

“Hand-woven” textiles are made on a simple manual loom without complex machinery, just as Hutsul housewives have done for centuries. Each row of threads is laid by hand, so the density and pattern have the same “living” imperfection that distinguishes a true handmade product from a factory-made one.

Ornament — Carpathian geometry

The classic Hutsul ornament of the rug is built on repeating geometric elements — rhombuses, teeth, and wavy lines, which traditionally symbolize:

• mountains and paths — zigzag lines resemble the silhouette of the Carpathian ridges;
• protection of the home — the rhombus has long been considered a sign of protection at the threshold;
• continuity of lineage — a rhythmic repeating pattern along the entire rug;
• work and abundance — the density of the pattern reflects the generosity and care of the housewife.

Hand-woven textiles are made manually on a simple loom, so the density and pattern have a natural imperfection — a sign of true craftsmanship rather than mass production.

Does the rug slip on smooth floors?
On tiles or laminate, we recommend using an anti-slip underlay — standard practice for woven rugs without a rubber backing.

Do colored threads bleed during washing?
The workshop uses durable dyes with fixation before weaving. With proper care — cold water, gentle wool detergent — the color lasts for years.

What price difference does a larger size make?
150×65 cm costs 600 UAH more than the base size, and 200×65 cm costs 900 UAH more, as more yarn and weaving time are required for larger sizes.

Can the rug be washed in a washing machine?
We do not recommend it — wool may deform. The optimal method is hand washing in cool water or dry cleaning.

Care

Vacuum at medium power without a brush attachment for daily care. Once a season — air out in fresh air (not in direct sunlight). In case of soiling — dry cleaning or hand washing in cool water (up to 30°C) with a gentle wool detergent. Do not wring — let the water drain naturally. Dry horizontally, in a laid-out position, away from heating batteries.

Before shipping, we make a detailed video review of your specific product. We pack it in film and cardboard and ship it via “Nova Poshta” throughout Ukraine.
