“Indian summer lasts for a short time, but it is then that the mountains show their warmest colors — before true autumn arrives.” This is what they say in Kosiv about the brief period of golden warmth before the cold — hence the name of this rug.
The handmade wool rug “Indian Summer” is a product of the Hutsul Carpet Workshop in a warm beige-cream palette with burgundy-teal-mustard geometric medallions. The pileless weaving technique makes the rug versatile for any space, while the sturdy base allows the bright ornament to stand out distinctly without overwhelming the interior.

Where the name comes from — about the last warmth
Indian summer is a short period of warm sunny days at the end of September when the mountains show their colors one last time: the burgundy of rose hips, the amber of leaves, the teal of the evening sky. This palette of warm and cool shades on a light background became the basis for the rug's ornament.
Ornament — flower-feathers
The central motif of the rug consists of vertical rows of stylized flower-like medallions that resemble opened feathers or inflorescences, combining burgundy, teal, brown, and mustard colors. In Hutsul weaving, such an ornament traditionally symbolizes:
- vitality — floral motifs symbolize growth and renewal;
- harmony of opposites — the combination of warm (burgundy, mustard) and cool (teal) colors;
- protection of the home — the diamond structure of the medallion was traditionally considered a talisman;
- continuity of lineage — the repeated rhythmic pattern along the entire rug.
Palette — from beige to burgundy
“Indian Summer” is built on the contrast between a light neutral base and a rich multicolored ornament: beige · cream · burgundy · teal · brown · mustard accent.
Where it fits, and where it doesn’t
✓ Suitable- hallway, corridor, or kitchen — thanks to the pileless practical texture;
- interiors in neutral beige-brown tones;
- spaces where an accent is needed without overwhelming color;
- by the bed, sofa, or dining table.
| ✗ Not the best choice- interiors in purely cold, monochromatic gray tones without warm accents;
- spaces with a lot of bright contrasting prints;
- areas with high traffic (may slip without a carpet pad).

Care
Vacuum at medium power without a brush attachment for daily care. Once a season — air it out in fresh air (not in direct sunlight). In case of soiling — dry cleaning or hand washing in cool water (up to 30°C) with a delicate wool detergent. Do not wring — let the water drain naturally. Dry horizontally, in a laid-out position, away from heating batteries.
