Composition — like a mountain river with banks
The carpet reads in the rhythm of a river pool: wide silvery-gray fields alternate with creamy paths on which rhombus “roses” “float.” The master arranged them in a checkerboard pattern — four in each path — and woven in two moods: gray-blue (like deep pools) and terracotta (like sun-warmed stones on the shore). Between them are thin graphite and ochre stripes that set a vertical rhythm for the entire composition.
On the side fields of the carpet, a meander is woven — an ancient symbol of infinity and the flow of time. In Hutsul tradition, such ornamentation is placed on the “banks” of the product as a protective charm that shields the home from evil forces.
