Blankets are made of natural sheep's wool and have certain traditional patterns characteristic of different villages in the Hutsul region.
The process of making blankets is very interesting and includes the following steps:
Material preparation: Sheep's wool from the Carpathian mountains is processed - it is washed, dried, and combed with a special comb to create fluffy fiber clusters.
Weaving: These fluffy fibers are processed into threads and used for weaving blankets on traditional looms. Different villages may have their own unique patterns and motifs.
Felting: After weaving, the blankets are placed in a special device called a felting machine, where they are treated with a stream of water that causes the fibers to move and intertwine, making the blankets dense and fluffy.
Drying and processing: After the felting process, the blankets are dried on racks and brushed to fluff up the fibers and give them a more fluffy appearance.
This approach to making blankets has great value both in terms of cultural heritage and the use of natural materials and techniques. These blankets embody the spirit and traditions of Hutsul culture.
