“The brightest star shines in the dark sky”
The "Christmas Star" kepterik in black is a strict yet festive version of the Hutsul kepterik. On deep black cashmere, the multicolored embroidery of diamonds, resembling Christmas stars, shines particularly brightly. The black edging under the fur, the red serrated ribbon along the edges, and the colorful pom-poms on the laces complete the solemn Carpathian look. The model is unlined — light, comfortable, and fits perfectly over an embroidered shirt.
Black is a classic color for Hutsul attire. It makes the silhouette restrained and noble, while the embroidery becomes maximally expressive. The ornament runs in two vertical stripes along the sides and transitions into horizontal compositions at the bottom, as seen on traditional festive kepteriks.
Yellow, orange, green, and red threads form diamond-shaped motifs reminiscent of the star that carolers carry from house to house at Christmas. The red serrated ribbon frames each edge, and two pairs of fluffy pom-poms on the laces serve both as decoration and ties. The black kepterik easily pairs with any embroidered shirt — from classic white to colorful patterns.

In Hutsul region, Christmas was celebrated in the best attire, and the kepter was an essential part of it. Caroling groups in Kosiv, Verkhovyna, and Kosmach would go from house to house in kepteriks, carrying the Christmas star before them. Bright pom-poms, colorful ribbons, and geometric ornaments still distinguish the festive Carpathian attire.
The brass workshop in Kosiv preserves these traditions and offers kepteriks where recognizable Hutsul character combines with the practicality of modern clothing. The black "Christmas Star" harmoniously complements brass jewelry, a belt, or an embroidered shirt.
