The “Birch Bark” throw rug is a woolen product, handwoven in the city of Kosiv using traditional Hutsul carpet-making technologies. The clear rhythm of black and white stripes gives the throw a restrained, graphic character — it looks equally good in both minimalist and classic interiors, serving as a throw for a bed, sofa, chair, or as a floor covering.

At the core is the wool of sheep that graze in the Carpathian meadows. It is washed, dried, and carded with a special comb to a fluffy ball state, then twisted into threads and woven on a traditional loom. The finished product undergoes felting in a “valila” — a wooden tub where a stream of water falls under pressure: after a few hours of rotation, the product becomes tight and fluffy. Finally, the rug is dried on rods and brushed to fluff the wool.
Regular airing outdoors and vacuuming at low power keep the wool fluffy. In case of contamination — dry cleaning or careful hand washing in cool water with a delicate wool detergent, without wringing.
