It may seem that wool is only for cold weather, but in fact, it handles summer heat wonderfully: carded wool absorbs and releases up to 30% moisture without creating a feeling of dampness. Therefore, at the beach or picnic, the blanket remains pleasant to the touch, does not overheat in the sun like synthetic materials, and easily ventilates.
At its core is the wool from sheep grazing in the Carpathian meadows. It is washed, dried, and carded with a special comb into a fluffy ball, then twisted into yarn and woven on a traditional loom. The finished product undergoes felting in a “valili” — a wooden tub where a stream of water falls under pressure: after a few hours of rotation, the product becomes tight and fluffy. Finally, the blanket is dried on rods and brushed.
After a trip or picnic, it is enough to air the blanket in fresh air. If it gets dirty — dry cleaning or careful hand washing in cool water with a gentle wool detergent, without wringing.
