Tetrapod made of oak or pear for reading the Holy Scriptures

The tetrapod in the church is a special place located in Christian temples, where holy books, particularly the Gospel, candles, and sometimes the holy chalice are usually placed during services. Hutsul craftsmen from the Kosiv region create such handmade tetrapods from oak or pear wood.

Purpose of the Product

The tetrapod is of great importance for performing religious rituals and reading the Holy Scriptures during services. The term "tetrapod" is also used to describe the moment in the liturgy when the clergyman or deacon carries the holy gifts to the altar — at this moment, the so-called "tetrapod prayer" is proclaimed.

Manufacturing Traditions

The tetrapod is created by the hands of Hutsul craftsmen from the Kosiv region, who continue the work of the ATELID workshop in preserving the traditions of church wooden art. The cost and production time are discussed individually depending on the wishes and specifications of the customer.

• Periodically polish the wood surface or treat it with wood oil.
• Avoid aggressive cleaning chemicals.
• Regularly clean the surface from dust with a soft cloth.
