The tetrapod in the church is a special place located in Christian temples, where holy books, particularly the Gospel, candles, and sometimes the holy chalice are placed during services. Hutsul craftsmen from the Kosiv region create such handmade tetrapods from oak or pear wood.

The tetrapod is significant for performing religious rituals and reading the Holy Scriptures during services. The term "tetrapod" is also used to describe the moment in the liturgy when the priest or deacon carries the holy gifts to the altar — at this moment, the so-called "tetrapod prayer" is proclaimed.
