“A star shone over the Carpathians — and it became brighter in every home”
The "Christmas Star" kepterik is a festive model in the traditions of Hutsul kepterik. Deep burgundy cashmere, black edging under the fur, red serrated ribbon along the edges, and multicolored embroidery of diamonds that shine like stars create a solemn Carpathian image. The stand-up collar and the edges are adorned with fluffy multicolored pom-poms on cords. The model is unlined — light, comfortable, and perfectly fits over a vyshyvanka.
The base of the product is dense cashmere of a rich burgundy shade, which favorably highlights the colors of the embroidery. The ornament runs in two vertical stripes along the edges and transitions into horizontal compositions at the bottom — this is how festive kepteriks were traditionally decorated in Hutsul region.
The embroidery is done in yellow, orange, green, and red threads, and the diamond-shaped motifs resemble Christmas stars that carolers carry from house to house. The red serrated ribbon frames each edge, and three pairs of pom-poms on cords serve both as decoration and ties — the kepterik can be worn either open or tied.

The kepter is one of the most expressive parts of Hutsul attire. It has been sewn in the Kosiv, Verkhovyna, and Kosmach regions for ages, and it is in kepteriks that Hutsuls went caroling, carrying the Christmas star in front of the group. Bright pom-poms, colorful ribbons, and geometric ornaments are characteristic features of festive Carpathian clothing.
The brass workshop in Kosiv supports these traditions and offers kepteriks that combine recognizable Hutsul character with the practicality of modern clothing. The "Christmas Star" will complement brass jewelry, a belt, or an embroidered shirt and will become a decoration of your festive attire.
