Kaptar is a sleeveless fur jacket that has been used by the population of the Carpathians and the Subcarpathians since ancient times. It is made of sheepskin and decorated with colored sapa, wool, shiny buttons, ear cotton cord, and braid.
Kaptar has significant local variability in terms of length and decoration techniques. It is characterized by symmetrical arrangement of decoration with a preference for geometric ornament. According to their decoration style, they are divided into Kosiv, Kosmach, Verkhovyna, and Nadvirna styles.
