"Every item in the altar speaks the language of silence and order" — and the archbishop's chair is no exception.

The archbishop's chair is a necessary attribute of the eastern part of the altar. During the archbishop's service, the bishop sits in this chair, while the priests serving with him are positioned on benches on either side of the pulpit. This model is made from solid oak with hand carving, and the shape and decoration are individually tailored to the style of the specific temple.

Purpose of the product

The chair is usually richly decorated, and carpets are laid around it during the service. Sometimes the archbishop's chair is made as a single piece with the icon case for the Almighty. If there is little space between the altar and the eastern wall of the altar, the chair can be made in the form of a small pouf — in any case, it must organically fit into the overall style of the altar decoration of the temple.

Advantages of the material

  • Strength of the wood — oak is one of the hardest species, ensuring stability of the structure under load.
  • Resistance to prolonged use — the dense structure of oak withstands regular sitting and movement well.
  • Naturalness — the product is made from solid wood without synthetic substitutes.
  • Durability of the structure — properly treated oak wood retains its shape and strength for decades.

Traditions of manufacturing

Each archbishop's chair is created by the masters of the ATELID WORKSHOP with hand carving and taking into account the style of decoration of the specific temple. The masters consider the space of the altar part, existing decorative elements, and the wishes of the parish to ensure that the product harmoniously fits into the overall ensemble of the altar.

Care

  • Protect the product from excessive moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Periodically polish the wood surface or treat it with wood oil.
  • Avoid aggressive cleaning chemicals.
  • Wipe carved elements with a dry soft cloth.
⚠ ATTENTION: The price of the product is calculated individually depending on the sizes, decoration, and complexity of carving — please clarify the current price with the store manager.
