About the Bazaar

A Living Legend of the Carpathians

The Kosiv Bazaar is a living legend of the Carpathians. Every Saturday, the small town of Kosiv in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast transforms into a true capital of Hutsul craftsmanship, drawing artisans, tourists, and connoisseurs of authentic goods from across Ukraine and abroad.

The tradition of the Saturday market dates back at least several centuries. Craftspeople come from all across the Kosiv district — from the villages of Kosmach, Kuty, Pistin, Yavoriv, Sokolivka, and others.

Kosiv is located in a picturesque corner of the Pokuttia Carpathians, 130 km from Ivano-Frankivsk and 270 km from Lviv, at the confluence of the Rybnytsia and Rybnytsia-Kosivska rivers.

If you cannot visit in person, the "Hutsul" online store hucul.if.ua will bring a piece of Kosiv right to your door. Authentic vyshyvankas, lizhnyks, ceramics, and other Hutsul treasures with delivery across all of Ukraine.

Our tip: arrive by 9–10 in the morning — that's when you'll find the widest selection and the highest concentration of authentic goods.

Traveller's Tips

How to Make the Most of Your Visit

1

Arrive early. The best selection is before 10:00 AM.

2

Bring cash. Not all vendors have card terminals.

3

Bargain. It's part of the market culture, especially when buying several items at once.

4

Ask about the maker. Often the seller is the craftsperson themselves.

5

Check authenticity. Genuine Kosiv ceramics feature green and yellow glazing — not mass-produced Chinese patterns.

6

Dress comfortably. The bazaar is outdoors — good footwear is essential.
