Handmade church cross with relief carving

The church cross was created not for a quiet home corner, but for a space where the community gathers every Sunday. The deep relief ornament with medallions at each edge and in the center gives the product a solemn, almost ancient Byzantine appearance, worthy of a central place in the Temple.

Product Description

The cross is made of wood using the technique of deep relief “dry” carving. Decorative medallions with a cross pattern are carved at each of the four edges and in the center of the composition, framed by a geometric border along the entire length of the product. The wood is tinted in a warm dark shade, giving the relief an expressive, almost bronze tone, although the product itself is entirely wooden. The height of the cross is 40 cm.

Craft Traditions

In the workshop "HUCUL CROSS WORKSHOP" in the city of Kosiv, the production of crosses of this scale with relief medallions is entrusted only to experienced carvers, as each element of the ornament requires precision in the movement of the chisel. This work continues the ancient tradition of decorating sacred objects, characteristic of the Hutsul region.

Care

• Avoid direct contact with water and excessive moisture.
• Do not leave it for a long time under direct sunlight to prevent fading of the tinting.
• Gently wipe with a dry soft cloth, paying attention to the recesses of the relief.
• If necessary, refresh the product with natural wood oil.
