When making carpets, wool from sheep grazing in the Carpathian meadows and natural dyes are used. To obtain a finished carpet, a lot of effort is required. First, the sheared wool is washed and dried, then carded with a special comb, resulting in a fluffy ball resembling a cloud. By the way, blankets and pillows filled with carded wool promote healthy sleep, as it has the ability to absorb and release up to 30% moisture into the surrounding environment without creating a feeling of dampness in the bed.

Carded wool is easily twisted into threads (rovnytsia), which are then used, mainly on homemade looms, to produce carpets. There are several traditional patterns by which one can recognize in which village this carpet was made. For example, in Yavoriv, they weave crooked, parquet, Russian with dots, rainbow, plum, and other carpets.
The newly woven product is thrown into a special device — a valilo, a huge wooden tub, narrowed at the bottom, into which a powerful stream of water flows from a trough. The water rushes in and swiftly rises, creating a whirlpool in which the carpets spin (the Hutsuls say — valyutsia) for several hours. When you stand by the valilo, it feels like you are next to a large waterfall. During the time spent in the valilo, the carpets become tight and fluffy. It is said that it is very good when the carpet is "valyut" in warm water during the summer. Afterwards, it is dried on poles and brushed to fluff the wool.
